Overview
The company is looking for a Global Category Manager IT to lead strategic procurement and end-to-end category management for IT hardware, software, cloud hosting, data center services, IT professional services, and consulting categories. This role focuses on developing category strategies, managing key suppliers, negotiating commercial agreements, optimizing total cost of ownership, improving procurement processes, and supporting future-oriented sourcing decisions across a global organization.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement global category procurement strategies for IT hardware, software, and IT services.
- Manage end-to-end category management across global, regional, and site-level IT categories.
- Identify saving opportunities and drive cost reduction initiatives.
- Improve process efficiency and value creation across IT procurement categories.
- Lead complex sourcing initiatives for IT software, hardware, cloud hosting, data center, and consulting services.
- Manage key suppliers and commercial agreements.
- Lead contract negotiations covering software licensing, hardware procurement, service agreements, and SLAs.
- Work closely with IT, R&D, Product Management, Finance, Legal, and global procurement stakeholders.
- Optimize total cost of ownership across assigned categories.
- Support global procurement strategy with market insights and supplier performance analysis.
- Monitor market trends, innovation opportunities, supplier performance, and risk factors.
- Integrate sustainability, compliance, and risk management into procurement decisions.
- Ensure supplier selection follows governance standards and procurement policies.
- Contribute to high-impact strategic projects with executive-level visibility.
- Improve procurement tools, processes, and best practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in strategic procurement and category management.
- Experience in IT and technology procurement is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of IT hardware, IT services, and software procurement.
- Strong knowledge of sourcing processes and supplier management in the IT domain.
- Proven ability to manage complex supplier contracts and negotiations at regional and global level.
- Experience driving cost optimization and efficiency improvements.
- Experience supporting category strategy implementation.
- Degree in Business Administration, IT, Procurement, or a similar field.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills for spend analysis, project structuring, and management reporting.
- Experience with procurement and sourcing platforms such as eProcurement or Source-to-Pay solutions.
- Experience with Finance or ERP systems supporting purchasing, invoicing, and financial processes.
- Ability to collaborate across IT, Finance, Legal, Operations, and other business functions.
- Ability to communicate complex procurement topics clearly and persuasively.
- Strong relationship-building and stakeholder influence skills.
- Team-player mindset with assertiveness, ownership, and a solution-oriented approach.
- Structured, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in an international environment.
- Fluency in English is mandatory.
- Additional language skills are a plus but not required.
